Originally developed to defeat anti-ship cruise missiles, Phalanx has evolved to meet the changing threat. Today’s Block 1B is the only tested and proven system capable of defeating the surface, air and changing littoral threats. Phalanx 1B encompasses the range of actions required to assure success and shape the battlespace for naval, joint, and combined forces. Phalanx is the complete detect, identify, control, engage and destroy weapon system employed by 24 international fleets.
